District Visit - Singur, Hooghly
Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee Inaugurated and laid foundation stone for numerous development projects from a public distribution programme in Singur. She virtually inaugurated 1077 development projects across the state including the 'Ghatal Master Plan' to address the long-standing problems of the people of Ghatal. Additionally, she laid the foundation stone for 616 new projects. She launched the second phase of the 'Banglar Bari' (Rural) housing project from the state government's own funds. Under the 'Banglar Bari' project, a total grant of 1,20,000 rupees would be provided in two instalments, said Hon’ble Chief Minister. A total of 20 lakh families would receive grant in the phase, she added. Combining the first and second phases of the 'Banglar Bari' (Rural) project, more than 32 lakh families in West Bengal are being provided with houses. District Visit - Sagar, South 24 Parganas
Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee visited the Sagar Island, in South 24 Paraganas, on the eve of the upcoming Gangasagar Mela, one of the largest fairs of India. She laid foundation stone for the ‘Gangasagar Bridge’ to facilitate the movement of pilgrims and residents of Sagar Island. The four-lane bridge, approximately 5 kilometers long, would be built over the Muriganga River, she informed. In the coming days, the sacred pilgrimage to Gangasagar would become even more accessible and convenient, she added. As every year, she visited Bharat Sevashram Sangha and Kapil Muni's ashram to offer prayers. Hon’ble Chief Minister monitored the safety measures to ensure the well-being of all those attending the fair and to provide them with good services. She said that the fair would run from 9th to 17th January, 2026.
