District Visit - Uttarkanya, Siliguri

Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was present at the inauguration and foundation stone laying programme of developmental projects at Uttarkanya. That was her third time visiting North Bengal after the devastating flood and landslide. She extended assistance to the people, affected by recent floods for the reconstruction of their houses. North Bengal was slowly returning to normalcy after the devastating floods and landslides, said Hon’ble Chief Minister. West Bengal government provided crop seeds and necessary equipment to farmers affected by the floods and landslides. Besides, financial assistance was provided to 807 farmers of flood and landslide affected Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri, Alipurduar and Cooch Behar districts to make agricultural land cultivable again. Compensation would be provided shortly under the Bangla Crop Insurance Scheme after the assessment of crop loss was completed, she assured.
