28-04-2025 Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee reached Digha to review the preparations at the Jagannath Temple. Later she met the journalists and said that the formal inauguration of the temple would be held on the auspicious occasion of Mahayagna and Akshaya Tritiya. She informed that many devotees of Lord Jagannath from India and the world would come to West Bengal. She instructed the administrative officials to keep the transport system operational and free from vehicles. Hon’ble Chief Minister is hopeful that the newly built Jagannath temple will emerge as a symbol of West Bengal's new culture, tradition, development of spiritual consciousness and harmony.

She also inaugurated 25 water bowsers, each with a 14,000-litre tank, along with remote-controlled fire monitors for the newly established Dainhat Fire Station in Purba Bardhaman which will significantly strengthen the disaster preparedness and fire safety infrastructure of West Bengal. Hon’ble Chief Minister also inaugurated Eastern India’s largest solar power generation facility at Goaltore. The state-of-the-art plant was developed with the support of the German KfW Bank, she said. She also inaugurated many more developmental projects in Paschim Medinipur that includes Water Treatment Plant, Clear Water Reservoir, rural roads, new buildings at Midnapore Medical College and Hospital, Sidhu Kanhu Memorial Residential School at Keshpur, a new Gold Hub at Daspur and two commemorative gates at the culturally significant village of Birsingha. Besides, she laid the foundation stones for another 212 projects.

Developed by JSW Energy, this plant is Eastern India’s first eco-friendly coal-based facility. She said that, the landmark project would power 23 districts and generate over 15,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities. Hon’ble Chief Minister also laid the foundation stone of a 2,000-acre Industrial Park by the JSW Group, which will create thousands of jobs and reveal new economic opportunities for the youth of West Bengal. She thanked Shri Sajjan Jindal and the JSW Group for their trust and partnership.

CEA has ranked Bakreswar plant as 2nd, Sagardighi as 4th and Bandel as 9th. She also added that, as a company WBPDCL ranked the best-performing company in the country. Hon’ble Chief Minister congratulated the officers, engineers, workmen for bringing out their best and making the state proud.
